What counts as a source

For the lab results we use only:

  • peer-reviewed laboratory analyses of specific retail products, and
  • government testing, recalls, warnings and outbreak investigations.

We don't use manufacturers' certificates of analysis, retailer pages, reviews or forum posts as evidence of what a product contains. We may quote a manufacturer's own claims, and when we do, we label them as the manufacturer's claims.

How we check claims

  • We fetch bibliographic details (authors, journal, year, pages) from PubMed's records, not from memory.
  • We save the abstract, full text or official page we relied on, and record which one it was. Each reference on the site says "Checked against: full text", "abstract" or "official page". We don't claim to have read a full paper when we only had the abstract.
  • A source has to support the specific statement: the same product, population and conditions, at the same level of certainty. If it doesn't, we drop the statement or clearly mark it as our own inference.
  • Numbers on the site, such as how many products contained undisclosed ingredients, are calculated from the dataset itself, not typed by hand.

Evidence labels

Every reference states its type, for example laboratory analysis of retail products, outbreak investigation, randomised controlled trial, systematic review, poison-centre surveillance, case report, government warning, vendor documentation or manufacturer statement. Each also notes its main limitation, such as sample size, location, or abstract-only access.

What we don't do

  • No dosing advice. Doses in unregulated, often mislabelled products can't be supported by evidence.
  • No product recommendations, ratings or "best of" lists.
  • No hands-on testing. We have never bought, tested or taken these products.
  • No professional review. Nothing here has been reviewed by a doctor, toxicologist or lawyer. Treat it as a sourced summary, not advice.

Updates and corrections

Each page shows when it was published and when it was last substantively updated. Those dates are the same in the page, its metadata and our sitemap. Guides keep an update history for substantive changes. We don't change the date for typo fixes.

To report an error, email hi@psychoactivegummy.com with the page and the source that shows the problem. We check every report against the source. If we got something wrong, we fix it and note the change.

Brands can send accredited, independent test results for a product. We'll consider them for a brand record, labelled as information supplied by the brand, alongside any independent findings.

Money

The site currently has no ads, sponsors or affiliate links. Any future paid relationship will be disclosed on each affected page. No paid relationship will change what the lab-results table reports.
